I believe I can fly... and other preposterous ideas
What if I told you I met my spirit guide and instead of having a fluffy, angelic name, she was called Jennifer? Or that I started having eerie premonitions in the pandemic when all was quiet? What about if I told you I manifested a place to live in an emergency with salt and cinnamon, lived in a house wallpapered with pages of the Bible, or started my witchy journey early by jumping off the sofa for 18 months daily, convinced I could learn how to fly… Pretty weird right? But apparently I’m not the only one.
Like many people, who when the world stopped in 2020 picked up their magical practice again, I shuffled my tarot cards, joined Instagram to share my daily readings and met hundreds of other like-minded witches, pagans, reiki masters, star seeds, lightworkers, tarot readers, astrologers, druids and many others following an alternative lifestyle. As a former reportage journalist in the crazy rave days of the 1990s, being immersed in another kind of community with a similar energy made me want to find out more about the people behind the grids. And write about them.
So that’s why I’ve launched this substack. A few of my own tales of the unexpected, and interviews with interesting others. I’m not into sharing 100s of emails (annoying!) so I’m aiming to do a monthly round-up of stories from this page. So, if you are inclined, you are very welcome to join me on this journey into the modern mystical community...
