A visit to my local witch...
I’m lucky, living in a metropolis to be able to call on a local witch in time of need.
I had been feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, so yesterday I rang a buzzer at a specified time, stepped over the threshold in a back street studio complex and met with Mama Moon herself, Semra Haksever in her beautiful, fragrant sacred space.
Semra is an eclectic witch, and healer who had a vision of how she could manifest her dream life while sat on top of a volcano (as you do). Now she is the proud owner of the Mama Moon emporium, where she sells spells, candles and other gorgeous magical items.
Over a cup of magic tea, we spoke about previous incarnations - the fact we both used to work at the same magazine back in the day - the vastness of the universe, the menopause, the patriarchy, insomnia… Semra pulled some cards for me and advised me to keep on doing whatever I was doing… because I had the nine and ten of cups (fulfilment and joy) coming in along the future positions. I always find it good to receive spiritual guidance from others - even though I am a tarot reader, divination for yourself can be tricky.
Then Semra stepped over to her altar, created a bespoke spell for me, and I chose some medicinal teas and an amazing Cosmic Realness spray. While we chatted about womb ceremonies and ancient Egypt I reflected on how good it is to be able to share views with women of a similar age, experience and interest, and how fortunate I am to be able to access this community. Most of the mystical path I have been on has been solitary. Now it’s time to seek out others and expand that knowledge…
